Abstract

Objective To study the diagnostic value of rSj26-Sj32 fusion protein-Immunogold-IgG-Dot-ELISA in the diagnosis of acute schistosomiasis japonicum. Methods Purified rSj26-Sj32 protein and Schistosoma japonicum adult worm antigen(SjAWA) were used in the Immunogold-IgG-Dot-ELISA.Sera from patients with acute schistosomiasis japonicum were used in this analysis.Control sera were obtained from patients with paragonimiasis, clonorchiasis, echinococciasis, hepatitis B,lung tuberculosis and the normal subjects. Results All patients with acute schistosomiasis japonicum were positively diagnosed using rSj26-Sj32 fusion protein and SjAWA antigens. The specificity for the testing using rSj26-Sj32 fusion protein and SjAWA was 97.67% and 95.35%,respectively.Cross-reaction was observed in the sera from patients with paragonimiasis and clonorchiasis when SjAWA was used. Conclusion Recombinant Sj26-Sj32 may be used for the diagnosis of schistosomiasis.
