Abstract
On the basis of introduction to the conception,calculation and development,some faults of ecological footprint were analyzed.Improved models were introduced and then applied for calculation of ecological footprint in Chengdu City from 2003 to 2007.The result showed that the per capita ecological footprint increased from 1.1221 to 1.1914 hm2,and the per capita ecological carrying capacity decreased from 0.2902 to 0.2580 hm2.According to the new model calculation,the economy of Chengdu City had developed a lot in recent five years,but still in the stage of underdevelopment.Actually,the ecological pressure was severe and the mutual compatibility between ecology and economy was poor.Chengdu City still faces challenges in ecological construction and economic development.
