Observations on the Efficacy of Balancing Acupuncture plus Painful Point Injection in Treating Shoulder Periarthritis

Objective To investigate the efficacy of balancing acupuncture plus painful point injection in treating shoulder periarthritis. Methods Ninety shoulder periarthritis patients were randomly allocated to two groups, 45 cases each. The treatment group received balancing acupuncture plus painful point injection and the control group, painful point injection only. Results The cure and marked efficacy rate was 86.7% in the treatment group and 64.4% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P0.01). There was a statistically significant difference in shoulder joint activity between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Balancing acupuncture plus painful point injection has a better therapeutic effect on shoulder periarthritis than painful point injection and can improve shoulder joint activity more.
