Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of point-through-point acupuncture plus manipulation in treating shoulder periarthritis. Methods A random allocation was used.Three hundred and thirty-six patients with shoulder periarthritis meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated to a treatment group(point-through-point acupuncture plus manipulation) and a control group(simple point-through-point acupuncture) and treated by point Jianyu-through-Jianqian acupuncture plus manipulation and simple point-through-point acupuncture, respectively, for comparative study.Changes in shoulder joint activity score and infrared thermogram were examined in both groups after treatment. Results The therapeutic effect was significant better in the treatment group than in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference(P0.05).Conclusion Point-through-point acupuncture plus manipulation is an effective way to treat shoulder periarthritis.
