Efficacy Observation of 40 Cases of Ischemic Colitis Treated with Buyang-Huanwu Decoction

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy on ischemic colitis treated with BuyangHuanwu Decoction.Methods Sixty cases of ischemic colitis treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2011 to March 2013 were randomized into a treatment group(40 cases) and a control group(20 cases).In the control group,the general treatment with western medicine was used.In the treatment group,on the basis of treatment as the control group,the modifiedBuyangHuanwu Decoction was supplemented.The changes in examination by colonoscopy and symptoms were observed and compared before and after treatment in the two groups.Results The differences in the results of colonoscopy were significant before and after treatment in the patients of each group(P 0.05).The results in the treatment group were better than those in the control group(P 0.05).The scores of abdominal pain,diarrhea,bloody stools,anorexia and lassitude were different significantly before and after treatment in each group(P 0.05).Except the score of anorexia,the results of the other symptoms in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group after treatment(P 0.05).In comparison of the efficacy on the symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine and the clinical assessment of systematic symptoms,the total effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion The integrated therapeutic method of BuyangHuanwu Decoction and western medicine achieves the definite and safe efficacy on ischemic colitis.Hence,this therapy deserves to be promoted in clinical practice.
