Abstract

Objective:To explore the influence of psychological intervention on anxiety and depression in adult patients with epilepsy. Method:One hundred and sixty-three patients with epilepsy who received anti-epileptic treatment and psychological intervention were evaluated by Zung self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) pre-intervention,one month and three months after intervention, respectively. Results:Both anxiety and depression state of the patients improved significantly after psychological intervention.Compared with pre-intervention,the scores of SAS and SDS were not obviously different after one week of psychological intervention(P=0.469,0.272) ,but the differences were remarkable after one month and three months of intervention(F=15.196,16.207;all P0.001) . Conclusion:The adult epilepsy patients present with obvious mood of anxiety and depression. Both anxiety and depression state may be improved after psychological intervention, and the longer of intervention, the better of effect.
