The efficacy of periodontic-endodonic treatment in treating severe periodontitis

Objective To investigate the efficacy of periodontic- endodonic treatment in treating severe periodontitis. Methods 80 patients with severe periodontitis were randomly divided into 2 groups( control group and observation group,40 cases in each group),patients in control group adopted simple periodontal treatment,an patients in observation group received periodontic- endodonic treatment,we observed the periodontal pocket probing depth( PD),plaque index( PLI),gingival sulcus bleeding index( SBI),loose degree( MD) level changes in two groups after 4 and 8 weeks treatment. Results The PD,PLI,SBI and MD indexes of the two groups were improved after treatment. Compared with the control group,the observation group improve obviously( P 0. 05); AS the extension of treatment,the PD,PLI,SBI and MD index of observation group gradually improve,curative effect at the time point 8 weeks was better than 4 weeks( P 0. 05). Curative effects of control group at 8 weeks and 4 weeks were no statistical difference( P 0. 05). Conclusions Periodontic- endodonic treatment has ideal efficacy for severe periodontitis,and worth of clinical application.
