Abstract

[Objective]To observe the clinical efficacy of Wudan San in the treatment of diabetes with periodontitis.[Methods]100 diabetes outpatients with periodontitis in our hospital from January 2010 to March 2012 were randomly divided into treatment and control groups. The treatment group’s patients were given Wudan San on the basis of initial periodontal therapy,On the other hand, the control group were given tetracycline gel.The periodontal probing depth(PD),gingival index(GI),bleeding on probing(BOP),bacteria plaque index(PLI) and attachment loss(AL) and other indicators were recorded in the same point before and 4 weeks after treatment.[Results]The differences of periodontal index in the two groups before treatment were not statistically significant(P 0.05).The PD,BOP,PLI and Al of treatment group after 4 weeks were decreased than before treatment, which were significantly lower than the level in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).[Conclusion]Wudan San is effective in the treatment of diabetes with periodontitis and worthy of clinical application.
