Abstract
Objective To assess the clinical application of 3D (SSD) and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) with spiral CT for acetabular fractures.Materials and Methods CT findings on axial, multiplanar and 3D images in 16 cases with acetabular fractures were analyzed. Results SSD image well demonstrated fractures displaced over 2mm in 14 cases, but was not satisfied in showing fractures displaced less than 2mm. MPR well revealed the injury of weight bearing area and the stability of acetabular joints. Conclusion Spiral CT 3D and multiplanar reconstruction play an important role in the preoperative classification of the complex acetabular fractures, and are useful for the selection of surgical approaches and for the evaluation of prognosis.
