Abstract

Objective To assess effect of percutaneous intradiscal oxygen-ozone injection combined with target collagenase chemonucleolysis in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods 161 patients with lubar intervertebral disc protrusion(LIDP) were divided into two groups randomly.A group of patients(n=81) were treated with collagenase combined oxygen-ozone therapy, but B group of patients(n=80) were treated with collagenase only. After treatment, the patients were followed-up and the adverse effect, complication and therapeutic effect were assessed at 3 months. Results The success rate was 91.4%,90.0% in two groups respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between two groups after 3 months(P0.05).But the adverse effect in A group was less than in B group and there was a statistically significant difference between two groups(P0.05). Conclusion The combination of the collagenase with oxygen-ozone shows significant reductions in adverse effect of collagenase chemonucleolysis, which can be considered as an option for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.
