Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of Survivin and Bcl-2 protein in esophageal carcinoma(EC) and their clinical significance. Methods The expressions of Survivin and Bcl-2 protein were detected by immunohistochemical(SP) methods in 39 cases of EC tissue,23 cases of atypical hyperplasia tissue and 39 cases of nomal esophageal mucosa. Results The positive rate of Survivin protein expression was 59.0%(23/39)in cancer tissue; The expression of Survivin was related to clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).The positive rate of Bcl-2 protein expression was69.2%(27/39)in cancer tissue,21.7%(5/23)in atypical hyperplasia tissue by the side of cancer; The expression of Bcl-2 was related to the degree of differentiation, clinical stage and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).There was a positive relation between the expression of Survivin and Bcl-2 protein in the carcinoma tissues(r=0.46,P0.01).Conclusions The expressions of Survivin and Bcl-2 protein might play an important role in expansion and progression of EC.
