The comparison of the effects of cortisomol sealer and vitapex sealer in root canal therapy

Objective To compare the recent treatment response and long-term effect between root canal therapy(RCT) with cortisomol sealer and with vitapex sealer.Methods The selected 216 teeth were randomly divided into 2 groups,among which 109 teeth were treated with cortisomol sealer in root canal filling and the other 107 teeth treat with vitapex sealer in root canal filling.The occurrence of pain in 1day and 3 days after treatment were recorded and the therapeutic effects were evaluated in the following 2 years.Results The occurrence rate of pain after RCT in 1day and 3 days using cortisomol sealer and vitapex sealer was similar.The difference has no statistical significance(P0.05).The rate of success in treatment with cortisomol sealer in root canal filling after 2 years is higher than with vitapex sealer in root canal filling.The difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion The treatment with cortisomol sealer in root canal filling and with vitapex sealer in root canal filling can significantly reduce the postoperative pain.cortisomol sealer shows better clinical treatment effects than vitapex sealer in the long run and the former is worth the widespread in clinical application.
