Abstract
Several factors influencing callus induction frequency, growth and plantlet regeneration were investigated, using 5 fertility-restoring lines of indica rice. MS and NB appeared to be appropriate media of callus induction, subculture and differentiation for indica rice cultivars. However, different cultivars responded differently to different media, and significant differences were present between the cultivars studied in their differentiation capacity. Suitable exogenous hormone combination for the differentiation medium was BAP 3 mg/L and NAA 0.5 mg/L. Partial desiccation of the calli before their transfer to the regeneration medium increased the frequency of plantlet regeneration significantly.
