Abstract
A new type of Gemini surfactant(GMI-03) was synthesized with cheap materials such as maleic anhydride,1-octyl,glycol and sulfurous acid. The optimum reaction conditions were obtained via orthogonal experiments. Thus, the first esterificantion reaction was carried out at 70(°C) for 3 h with n(1-octyl)∶n(maleic anhydride)=1.00∶1.05.The sulfonation reaction was carried out with n(maleic anhydride)∶n(sulfurous acid)=1.00∶1.05 at 90(°C) for 4 h.The second esterification, reaction was carried out with n(middle product)=n(glycol)=2.50∶1.00 and 1.0% p-methyl benzenesulfonic acid at 150(°C) for 6 h.Finally, the surface tension of GMI-03 was investigated. The surface tension was 32.8 mN/m,and the CMC was 5.8×10~(-4) mol/L.
