Analysis of influencing factors of blood pressure variability in aged patients

Objective:To explore influence of factors,including hypertension,age,mean arterial pressure and morning blood pressure surge(MBPS),on blood pressure variability(BPV)in aged patients.Methods:According to blood pressure level,a total of 325aged patients were divided into hypertension group(n=225)and non-hypertension group(n=100).Both groups received ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and the results were statistically analyzed.Results:Compared with non-hypertension group,there were significant increase in systolic blood pressure(SBP)variability[(10.82±2.72)mmHg vs.(14.18±2.98)mmHg]and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)variability [(8.12±1.83)mmHg vs.(9.05±1.94)mmHg]in hypertension group(P0.01both);But their SBP variability did not rise along with age increase(t=1.277,P=0.215).Rectilinear correlation analysis indicated that morning SBP surge was positively correlated with SBP variability(r=0.342,P0.05),mean DBP was positively correlated with DBP variability(r=0.323,P0.05).Conclusion:Blood pressure variability increases in aged patients with hypertension.Morning blood pressure surge and mean DBP are important influencing factor of blood pressure variability in aged patients.
