Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical safety and efficiency of laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal hernioplasty(TEP).Methods Seventy-two cases of inguinal hernia undergoing laparoscopic TEP in our center during Sept.2003 and Aug.2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Results All the 72 patients were successfully subjected to TEP.The mean operative time was(45±21) min(range:31-130 min). The postoperative complications included seromas(8 cases),transient neurapraxias(5 cases) and urinary retensions(4 cases). No recurrence was found during a follow-up period of 6 to 66 months. Conclusion TEP is a more safe and efficient choice for inguinal hernias.
