Clinical observation on dry eye treatment by application of Chinese medicine to acupoint and oral medication

OBJECTIVE To study the effect of curing dry eye by applying Chinese medicine to acupoint and oral medication.METHODS One hundred and thirty dry eye patients were randomly divided into treatment group and reference group.Each group,whose age was from 25 to 60 years old,had 25 males and 40 females with history from 10 days to 1 year.Data of two groups were comparable due to no significant difference(P0.05).The two groups were both given sodium hyaluronate topically,and treatment group further got TCM differentiation treatment and Chinese medicine borneol acupoint therapy.Three kinds of patients,lung yin deficiency,spleen stomach damp heat syndrome,and yin deficiency of liver and kidney,were treated by oral medication.Compared with dry eye symptoms,tear break-up time,Schirmer test before and after treatment.It was obvious that treatment group had 93.8% efficiency and a better effect than reference group with 84.6%(P0.05).CONCLUSIONS Conventional therapy combined with TCM differentiation could considerably improve the tear secretion of dry eye patients,inhabit tear evaporation and stabilize the film.
