Abstract

Objective To explore the prevalence of hyperuricemia in the male elderly and the various cardiovascular risk factors for it.Methods The cross-sectional study was based on an male elderly population that was given health examination in our hospital, whose blood pressure, body weight, height, waist circumference, hip circumference, fasting serum creatinine, total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterd, serum triglyceride, blood sugar and serum uric acid were measured or determined.BMI(body mass index),waist-to-hip ratio and clearance of creatinine(Ccr) were calculated. Results The average level of serum uric acid of the 1 677 subjects was(349.29±87.60) μmol/L,among whom there were 372 cases of hyperuricemia, accounting for 22.18%.The prevalence of hypertension, obesity, hypertriglyceridemia and impaired renal function was higher of hyperuricemia than the normal group, with the differences being statistically significant. Conclusion The prevalence of hyperuricemia in the elderly male population is on the high end;hyperuricemia is closely associated with varios factors such as high blood pressure, visceral obesity, high serum tryglyceride, impaired renal function.
