Study of Esomeprazole on reflux esophagitis

Objective It is to discuss the curative effect of Esomeprazole on reflux esophagitis.Methods 78 patients with reflux esophagitis diagnosed by endoscope were chosen and treated with Esomeprazole 40 mg once a day. The improvements of symptoms including acid regurgitation, heartburn and so on were observed after treated for two, four, six weeks. Endoscope was performed to observe the healing rate after 6 weeks.Results Symptom relief rate were 52%, 81%, and 84% after two, four, six weeks respectively. The rates after four and six weeks were obviously higher than that after two weeks (P0.05). The total symptom improvement rate was 92% after six weeks. After 6 weeks, the healing rate of type Ⅰ esophagitis (93%) was higher than that of type Ⅱ (76%), type Ⅲ and type Ⅳ (67%) (P0.05), but there was no significant difference in the total improvement rate among all the types.Conclusion Esomeprazole is an effective medicine to treat reflux esophagitis.
