An Analysis of the Reasons why Weng Fang-gang’ “Texture” Theory could Come into Being

Weng Fanggang’s “Texture” Theory was one of the main four poetic theories in the Qing Dynasty(AD1644-1911).One of it’s important propositions was that principle,textual research and rhetoric should be combined when writing poems.There were many-faceted reasons for it’s formation: the Qing Dynasty’s academic culture admitting, the studies of Confucian classics of both the Han Dynasty and the Song Dynasty was the deep-layer reason;poetry in the Song Dynasty was the creative foundation;the prose theory of the Tongcheng School was the direct theory source.
