The investigation of the regular blood donors in 12 blood centers in Hebei province

Objective In order to explore the present situation and the improvement method for establishing the team of regular blood donors,the regular donors in 12 blood collection agencies in Hebei province is analyzed.Method Using the blood collection and supply data offered by the information management platform of 12 blood stations in Hebei province from 2008 to 2012,the regular blood donors in each year are identified.The number of regular donors,composition,age distribution,donation time,and occupational composition of the regular blood donors are analyzed.Results The number of regular blood donors in Hebei province increased form 67 997 in 2008 to 132818 in 2012,the number of continuous regular donors increased form 25 154 in 2008 to 58573 in 2012 and the number of rejoining donors increased from 6845 in 2009 to 14676 in 2012.The number of the 3 categories of regular blood donors who donated whole blood and apheresis platelet increased year by year,Farmers and workers accounted for the majority of regular donors.Conclusion Although the number of regular donors is increasing ceaselessly,but the ratio of regular blood donors who donate whole blood is inferior to that of the developed countries.We should strengthened targeted propaganda and retain regular blood donors to make the team become more mature.
