An Important Phase in the History of Chinese Contemporary Historiography

Analyzing and summing up earnestly achievements in historiography of 17 years after the establishment of PRC is of significance not only for how to understand correctly the development road of Chinese contemporary historiography and clarify the people's serious misunderstanding but also for how to understand the current direction of Chinese historiography.This paper tries to sum up these achievements from four aspects: the research achievement in general history,dynastic history and specific history;the progress in understanding correctly major historical issues;the great achievement in compiling and publishing large historical documents;the remarkable progress in discipline construction.
