The Comparison of the Treatments of Secretory Otitis Media

Abstract

Objective To determine the effect of the two kinds of treatments for secretory otitis media(SOM).Methods Thirty cases(38 ears)with SOM were treated with mixed medicines by intra tympanum injection using fibronasopharynoscopy.There were other 30 cases(42 ears) which were treated with pharyngotympanic tube catheterization as the control.Results After one or two treatments,the variation of symptoms and hearing thresholds were improved compared with that before treatment.The effective rate was 86.84%(33/38)in the treatment group.Conclusion It is concluded that therapeutics of intra tympanum injection using fibronasopharynoscopy is simple and worth promoting.
