Abstract

Objective To study the effect of combined therapy on children's chronic and recurrent secretory otitis media(SOM). Methods Grommet insertions were performed for 43 cases (79 ears) by nasal endoscope combined with other auxiliary treatments. Results With follow-up of 6 to 24 months,37 cases (69 ears) were cured, while the tympanograms and the hearing threshold of pure-tone test returned to normal;4 cases (6 ears) were improved with the hearing average of 17dB and other 2 cases(4 ears) without improvement.Perforation of the tympanic membrane occurred in one case after detubation. Conclusion The clinical cure rate of combined therapy to treat chronic and recurrent SOM in children is high.
