Modified glaucoma and cataract surgery-vertical trabeculetomy combined intraocular lens implantation

Objective To investgate the effect of modified vertical trabeculectomy combined small-incision cataract extraction,intraocular lens implantation in the treatment of glaucoma complicated with cataract.Methods The vertical trabeculectomy with turning of deep scleral flap and non-phaco cataract extraction,intraocular lens implantation was performed on 16 glaucoma cases (24 eyes) with cataract.The post operative visual acuity,intraocular pressure,filtering bleb and complications were observed.Results After 3-18 months follow-up,21 eyes had the best corrected visual acuity0.3 (87.5%),18 eyes had the intraocular pressure less than 20.55 mmHg(75%).Conclusion In the treatment of glaucoma complicated with cataract,the modified vertical trabeculectomy with turning scleral flap and small-incision cataract extraction,intraocular lens implantation can effectively control intraocular pressure and restore useful vision.
