Observations on the Therapeutic Effect of Acupoint Application on Lumbar Intervertebral Disc Herniation

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupoint application on chronic lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.Methods Ninety patients meeting the inclusion criteria of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were randomly allocated to two groups.The treatment group of 60 patients received acupoint application of Chinese herbal medicine and the control group,conventional acupuncture plus oral administration of vitamin B1.The therapeutic effects were evaluated,the lumbago severity score was counted and the recurrence rate was examined in the two groups.Results There was no statistically significant difference in the short-term total efficacy rate between the two groups(P0.05).The total efficacy rate was higher in the treatment group than in the control group at 6 months and 12 months after treatment(both P0.05).The lumbago severity score was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P0.05).The recurrence rate was lower in the treatment group than in the control group at 6 months and 12 months after treatment(P0.05).Conclusion The long-term therapeutic effect is better in the treatment group than in the control group.
