Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy of combined devascularization operation for liver cirrhotic portal hypertension induced by schistosomiasis. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on results of 87 patients with liver cirrhotic portal hypertension induced by schistosomiasis who were treated with combined devascularization operation. The liver function was Child A in 47 cases,Child B in 37 cases and Child C in 3 cases.15 underwent emergency opearions, and the rest 72 underwent selective operation.13 had surgical history, and 74 did not. Results 7 cases suffered hydroperitoneum in whom 6 healed and 1 died of liver function failure. All the 86 cases were followed up for average 18 months, and no rebleeding was found. The 2-year survival rate was 98.9%(86/87).Conclusion Combined devascularization operation is an effective method for liver cirrhotic portal hypertension induced by schistosomiasis.
