Abstract
Objective To evaluate therapeutic effect of phacoemulsification and IOL implantation on cataract with small pupil resulted from uveitis. Methods 12 patients(13 eyes) had received phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. The surgical technique included the injection of enough viscoelastic compounds into anterior chamber, and “two tunnel” sharp_cut dissociation of posterior chamber adhesion and hyperplastic fibrous membrane at relative high intraocular pressuer to enable the successful capsulorhexis. The other involved the operation parameter of lower power and high negative pressuer to increase the controllability of lens ultrasonic emulsification. In addition, the outcome of postoperative visual acuity and other essential surgical procedures were analyzed. Results The visual acuity of postoperation in 13 eyes were improved. The most common complication was corneal edema and aqueous turbid .Conclusion Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation is an effective method for treatment of cataract with small pupil resulted from uveitis.
