Phacoemulsification cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation in patients with uveitis

Abstract
Objective This study reports outcomes of phacoemulsification cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation in patients with uveits.Methods 36 patients (44 eyes)with uveitis complicated by cataract underwent phacoemulsification and posterior chamber lens implantation . Results The visual acuity was improved in all patients after operation,27 eyes (61.36%) attained final visual acuity better than or equal to 0.5.The complications included hyphema 2 eyes (4.55% ),posterior capsular rupture 1 eye (2.27%), corneal edema 14 eyes (31.82 % ) , posterior capsular opacity 7 eyes (15.91%). Conclusion Phacoemulsification cataract extraction and posterior chamber lens implantation is safe and effective in patients with uveitis.
