Abstract

Objective To determine the expression of CD44 mRNA in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) tissues and the relationship of prognosis. Methods The expression of CD44 mRNA in 36 specimens of NSCLC tissues and 10 normal lung tissues and were determined by RT-PCR and follows up the survival of the 36 patients for more than 5 years. Results ① CD44 mRNA were excessively expressed in 21 of 36 specimens of NSCLC tissues, excessive expression rate is 58.3%.② The expression of CD44 mRNA in NSCLC tissues is related to metastasis of lymph node(P=0.007),not related to age, sex, histological types,TNM stages, tumor size of the patients.③ Kaplan-Meier survival curve shows that survival rate of CD44-positive is lower than CD44-negative in 36 specimens of NSCLC tissues(P=0.001).Conclusion The lymph node is easily metastasized in NSCLC that CD44 mRNA excessive expressed.CD44 mRNA expression guides the prognosis and the radiotherapy and chemotherapy of post-operation.
