Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical signif icance of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in breast cancer.Methods:S-P immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of VEGF in 60 cases breast cancer and 20 cases f ibroadenoma of breast. Results:The VEGF positive rate in 60 cases breast cancer was 81.67%(49/60), which was obviously higher than that of 20 cases fibroadenoma of breast (P 0.05). In breast cancer, the positive expression of VEGF had relations with tumor size, histological grade, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P 0.01,P 0.05); and had no relations with age, estrogens receptor and progesterone receptor (P 0.05).Conclusions:VEGF may play an important role in development, metastasis and prognosis of human breast cancer. It can act as an independent marker to judge the prognosis of breast cancer.
