Reversing action of captopril on left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with congestive heart failure

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect of captopril on left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in patients with congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods:Forty patients with CHF were divided into two groups randomly,the treatment group(20 patients) were administered captopril and digoxin for two months,the control group received digoxin for two months.Echocardiography was performed in the patients before and after treatment to examine the relative indices to LVH.Results:Significant improvement of LVH can been seen in the treatment group( P 0.001).Conclusions:Captopril can reverse LVH significantly.
