Abstract
After coming to power,Yuan Shi-kai tried to establish an autocracy and achieved some notable resu lts.At this moment,he was assured of the success of restoring monarchy because of support and abetting of the Great Powers and loyalty of subordinates.He though the would be success.But it was this wr ong judgment that gave rise to the crisis of authority legality of Yuan Shi-kai's r egime.The opposition of subordinates to Hong Xian Monarchy was the key factor which was not comprehensible to Yuan Shi-k ai and made him die out.
