The Influence of Teachers′ Knowledge on the Integrated Curriculum Implementation and Suggestions on Teachers′ Knowledge Development

The establishment of an integrated science curriculum in a secondary school is a breakthrough in the new curriculum reform.Teachers′ knowledge is a strong influential factor for the implementation of the integrated curriculum.Based on classroom observations and interviews with teachers,the research discovers: more professional and diversified teacher knowledge indicates more successful and efficient teaching;the most difficult knowledge for teachers who do not major in this discipline at college is physics,rather than biology,astronomy or geography;efficient teachers possess an interrelated and intertwined network of teacher knowledge.Actually teachers′ knowledge level determines the implementation quality of the integrated science curriculum.In order to promote the curriculum implementation,a development of teachers′ knowledge is required.
