Abstract
In this study, ultrasonic technique was used to assist the extraction of lutein from marigold. Based on the single factor experimental results, four factors, including ultrasonic power, saponification time, saponification temperature and NaOH amount, were chose to optimize the yield maximizing of lutein by using L9(34) orthogonal test, and the amount of lutein was measured by colorimetric method. The results indicated that when the amount of raw material was 1. 00 g,the amount of 15 % NaOH-ethanol solution was 4. 0 mL/g,saponification time was 3 hours and extraction temperature was 65. 0 ℃,the extraction content of lutein was highest, which was 87. 34 mg /100g. The order from large to small which various factors influenced on lutein content was ultrasonic power saponification temperature NaOH-ethanol solution amount saponification time.
