Abstract

Objective To study the expression of Skp2 in cervical carcinoma and its relationships with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods Expressions of Skp2 were detected by immunohistochemistry in 65 cases of invasive cervical carcinoma and 20 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN).60 cases of normal cervical tissue were taken as control group. Results Positive rates of Skp2 in cervical carcinoma were 55.4%,significantly higher than 25.0% in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) (P=0.017) and 6.7% in normal cervical tissue (P=0.000).The expression levels of Skp2 were independent of age, tumor size and clinical stage (P0.05),but significantly associated with pathologic grade, tumor infiltration depth, intravascular involvement and lymph node metastasis of cervical carcinoma.5-year survival rates of cervical carcinoma in Skp2 expression positive group (52.78%) were remarkably lower than that of Skp2 negative group (68.93%),Log- rank=8.60,P=0.0034 by Kaplan-Meier survival rates analysis. Conclusion Skp2 expression may play an important role in the development and progression of cervival carcinoma, and Skp2 can be used as the independent indicator for the prognosis of cervical carcinoma patients, the higher expression levels indicates poorer prognosis.
