Abstract
Isoamyl propionate was prepared from n-propionic acid and isoamyl alcohol by esterification using potassium bisulfate as catalyst.Under optimized conditions,i.e.,n-propionic acid 0.15mol,n(isoamyl alcohol)/n(propionic acid)=1.5,catalyst 0.5g,and reaction time 40min,the yield of isoamyl propionate reached 83.68%.Experimental results show that potassium bisulfate is an efficient, economic and environmental benign catalyst.
