“Afterlife” of Poetry Translation in Pursuit of Truth and Beauty

Abstract

This paper gives a simple analysis of the aesthetical features of the Chinese and English poesy: Chinese poems esteem the artistic conception and sense of beauty, while English poems stress nature and evidences. Then it tries to search for the inter-textuality between Chinese poem and English poem, the relationship between version of conveying spirit with remote implication and interpretation of transmitting nature to acquire the genuineness, which is based on the common and complementary features of Poetry translation between English and Chinese and it is the essence of poetry above the linguistic form, as the qualitative soul of poetic flavor is so glorious that gusto is generated and “afterlife” of poetry is held.
