Comparative analysis of depression treated with venlafaxine and imipramine respectively

Objective:To observe the efficacy of depression treated with venlafaxine and imipramine. Method:80 depressive patients were divided into venlafaxine group and imipramine group for 6 weeks respectively.Hamilton depressive scale (HAMD) and clinical global impression severity of illness (CGI-SI) were used to assess the efficaey,and treatment emergent symptom scale (TESS)was to observe the side effect. Results:Marked improvement rate of venlafaxine group was 80%,and imipramine group was 75%.The score of anxiety/somatie factor in HAMD was decreased more significantly in venlafaxine group.Side effects were less and milder in venlafaxine group,it was not necessary to be treated. Conclusion:The efficacy of depression treated with venlafaxine is as same as imigramine.Its side effects are less.Its compliance is good.
