A comparative sfudy of venlafaxine and imipramine for deprossive patients

Objective The aim of this study was to etermine the officacy and safety of ven afaxine to the patients with depression.Methods Patients who met CCMD-3 criteria for depressive episode were randonizde into two groups:venlafaxine group(n=40) and imipramine group(n=30).The range of dosane for the two experiment drugs was 150～300mg/d,the treatment duration was 4 weeks.The HAMD,HAMA,CGI,TESS and related lab tests were employed for assessing the treatment effeciteness and side effects.Results At the end of treatments,the scores of HAMA in both treatment groups decreased significantly compared with baseline(P0.01).Total clinical effective rates were 82.5% in venlafaxine group and 77% in imipramine group,which was no significant difference between two groups.However,patients in venlafaxine group,reported much tewer side effects than those in imipramine group,especially in the items of dry month,constipation,and urinary distress on TESS((P0.01=).Conclusion Venlafaxine is an effectiye antidepressants,with less side effects and better safety safety compared with imipramine.
