Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of allicin on the proliferation and apoptosis of gastric cancer cell line SGC7901.Methods The SGC7901 cells were treated by allicin, and MTT assay was used to determine the cell growth. The apoptosis of SGC7901 was detected by flow cytometry(FCM).The expression of Ki67 in gastric cancer cells was detected by immunohistochemical staining. Results Allicin effectively inhibited the growth of SGC7901 gastric cancer cells in a concentration-dependent manner at a certain range of concentrations. The inhibitory rate was significantly higher than control group.12h,24h and 48h after allicin treatment, the apoptosis rate was 2.41%,7.30% and 15.44%,respectively,with significantly higher effects as compared to the control group(P0.05).The expression of Ki67 protein was down-regulated by allicin compared with the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Allicin could inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of gastric cancer SGC7901 cells.
