Clinical Effect of Amlodipine and Metformin in the Treatment of Obesity-Related Mild and Moderate Hypertension

Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical effect of obesity-related mild or moderate hypertension by amlodipine or amlodipine and metformin, so as to explore a more reasonable treatment plan. Methods 50 patients with obesity-related mild or moderate hypertension were randomly divided into two groups, with 25 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with amlodipine, while patients in the observation group were treated with amlodipine and metformin. After 6 months of treatment, the curative effect, blood pressure and insulin resistance were compared between two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(P 0.05). There were no significant differences in related indicators of blood pressure and insulin between two groups before treatment(P 0.05); after treatment, the blood pressure, FPG, FINS and ISI of both groups were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment, but the observation group decreased more significantly(P 0.05). Conclusions For patients with obesity-related mild or moderate hypertension, the antihypertensive effect of combination therapy of amlodipine and metformin is obvious, and it also can improve insulin resistance status.
