A Philosophical Essay on Sports

Physical culture in China has been an outcome of Sports from the West, but the two do differ from each other in essence. Physical training reflects the particularly Chinese philosophy of life, i.e., being worldly wise and playing safe in society, while Sports in simply that of heroism. It is commercial infiltration of modern times that results in Sports' rise and declining. Sports are a game, with the players in it being dignified and seeking courage and stratagem combined, just like a war in peaceful time. What is embodied in Sports is our persistent pursuit of human equality.
