Abstract
Objective:To study the relationship between prehypertension(120-139/80-89 mmHg)and serum uric acid(UA).Method:Ninety six patients with prehypertension were enrolled. Seventy two normal blood pressure people were enrolled as control group. Serum uric acid level of all people was measured and the results were compared.Result:The serum uric acid level in prehypertension group [(327.48±72.21)μmol/L] was significantly higher than that in control group [(277.99±73.34)μmol/L](P0.01).The morbidity of hyperuricemia in prehypertension group (13.54%) was significantly higher than that in control group (4.17%) (P0.01). The serum uric acid level was found to be positively correlated with systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure (r=0.188, 0.317,P0.05, P0.01). Conclusion:The serum uric acid is increased in prehypertensive patients. Serum uric acid is a risk factor of hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
