Abstract

As the crystal of his individual literary creation, Wang Meng' s novels are clearly tinted with his personality. His novels are, in one sense, his autobiographies, for from his protagonists readers can dis- cern the trace and shadow of Wang as well as the spiritual journey of Chinese intellectuals. As Wang Meng is a unique and tramp. there are in his novels a series of lonely tramps, who have searched far and near, probing into both reality and history. Wang Meng has instituted in his novels a multidimen- sional artistic domain in which he manages to produce unique aesthetic effect by means of his great skills in writing.
