Efficacy of Small Incision Non-phacoemulsification Removal Surgery for the Treatment of Elderly Cataract Patients

Objective:To analyze the efficacy of small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery for the treatment of the elderly cataract patients.Method:30 cases(46 eyes) cataract patients in our hospital from May 2009 to May 2014 were randomly divided into two groups.15 patients(23 eyes) in the observation group were treated by small incision phacoemulsification surgery,others in the control group were treated by phacoemulsification surgery.The treatment effects in the two groups were compared.Result:In a week and three months after surgery,there was not significant difference in the two groups for the recovery of best corrected visual acuity(0.5)(P0.05).The operation time in the observation group and control group was(11.2±1.8)min and(16.1±2.1)min respectively,there was significant difference(P0.05), the incidences of complications were 52.17%(12/23) in the observation group and 82.61%(19/23) in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:The effect of small incision phacoemulsification in the treatment of elderly cataract patients is not significantly different with the phacoemulsification but the small incision phacoemulsification can shorten the operative time,the postoperative visual acuity recovery is fast,and the incidence of complications is lower for this treatment,so it is worthy of promotion and application.
