Effect of Laokang Decoction on the Recurrent Pulmonary Tuberculosis in the TCM Syndrome of Yin Deficiency with Toxic Stasis—Clinical Observation on 48 Patients

Objective To study the therapeutic effect of Laokang Decoction (Herbal decoction for pulmonary tuberculosis) on the recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis in the TCM syndrome of yin deficiency with toxic stasis.Methods Totally 96 enrolled patients were randomized into treatment group and control group,48 cases in each.The control group was given routine treatment with the drugs of modern medicine,based on which the treatment group was administered Laokang Decoction for 12 courses in succession,2 weeks as one course.Then,the comprehensive effect,symptom-disappearance after 15 days,improvement in X-ray examination,sputum smear,and negative-turning in sputum culture were observed.Results Compared with the control group,the treatment group was superior in total effective rate and symptom-disappearance after intensive treatment (P0.05).Meanwhile,there was significant difference in the focus and cavity of pulmonary tuberculosis shown in X-ray examination,sputum smear and negative-turning in sputum culture between the two groups (P0.05).Conclusion Laokang Decoction is effective and safe for the treatment of recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis in the TCM syndrome of yin deficiency with toxic stasis.
