Clinical Observation of Tiopronin Combined with Metformin for Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

OBJECTIVE:To observe the clinical efficacy of tiopronin entericcoated tablets combined with metformin capsules in treating alcoholic fatty liver disease.METHODS:75 patients with alcoholic fatty liver were randomly divided into therapy group and control group:40 patients in therapy group were treated with tiopronin entericcoated tablets combined with metformin capsules for 30 days,and 35 in control group treated with tiopronin entericcoated tablets in the same period.RESULTS:The therapy group showed a noticeable indices drop in liver function and blood lipids.Comparing with its starting status,there was statistical significance(P0.01)in the differences,and with control group,also statistical significance(P0.05)in the differences.The ultrasound detection showed improvements in the patients’liver conditions.The total effective rates were 91.4% and 65.6% for therapy group and control group.Again,there was statistical significance in the differences between the 2 groups(P0.05)after treatment.CONCLUSION:Tiopronin entericcoated tablets combined with Metformin capsules is effective in the treatment of alcoholic fatty liver disease without noticeable side effect.
