Pharmacodynamic action of resisting experimental gastric ulcer of Puwei Pill

AIM: To explore Puwei Pill(Fructus crotonis,Realgar,Fructus amomi rotundus,Pericarpium citti reticulatae,Radix aucklandiae,etc)(PWP) pharmacodynamic action of resisting gastric ulcer. METHODS: The rat's gastric ulcer models were induced by water-immersion stress,acetic acid,pyloric ligation.The gastric mucosa injure in mice was induced by absolute ethyl alcohol and reserpine,respectively.The ulcer was observed and the content of gastric juice,gastric acidity and the activity of pepsin were measured.The analgesic effect was tested by the hot-plate and torsive malposition in mice. RESULTS: PWP markedly reduced the gastric ulcer index,inhibited the secretion of gastric juice and decreased the activity of pepsin,alleviated the pain induced by acetic acid and raised hot pain threshold in mice. CONCLUSION: PWP has antigastric ulcer effect,which is relate to the inhibition of the secretion of gastric juice,the decrease in the activity of pepsin and the analgetic effect.
