Abstract
Liang Qichao's domestic understanding of western journal concept can be seen in his views of the newspaper and magazine's function,the freedom of press and audience etc.Such domestic understanding was connected with Liang Qichao's compromise attitude to Chinese and western culture and was rooted in his limited cognition of Chinese traditional culture.
